Figuring out marketing is an often overwhelming task. Breaking into the pro-photog market is even more daunting, and as a firm believer in education, I know that I will always be learning and always improving - both in my skills as a photographer and my skills as a business-woman. One of the first marketing stints I did was a "Cutest Couple" session give-away. It went over well, even if the approached market was very small.
I was DELIGHTED with my winners, Tara and David. They are genuinely two of the sweetest people I have ever met. Not only that, the love that they have for each other just OOZES from them (in a lovely thing to see kind of way, not in a sickly sweet kind of way). They have been a couple for almost 12 years and have been married for almost 9. They have two of the most beautiful children I have ever seen - honestly, gorgeous blue eyes (from Dad) with a lovely round almond shape (from Mom). They are both active in their church - Tara sings every Sunday - and David is a football (soccer) player which really speaks to me, because I am passionate about that sport. They have kept their love and romance alive by going on regular dates and finding things to laugh about together.
When I alerted them that they had won, they were in the final stages of building their dream home and getting ready to move in. Both of them were overwhelmed and excited - can you blame them?! At one point, David tried to improve the pond by adding dye ... only it went a bit heavy and they ended up with a turquoise outdoor pond! :) Just one more thing for them to laugh about when they're watching their grandchildren from the rockers on their front porch.
Truly it is a love-story I was anxious to capture. We had two different session, one with David's "I'm-growing-my-hair-out phase" and another with Tara's "No-long-hair-this-is-the-man-I-fell-in-love-with's-hair phase". Both sessions featured the palpable love between them.
